Week 6: Supporting Animeals on Wheels in the Time of COVID-19

We are currently in an unprecedented time all over the world, and here in Texas at the Cougar Paws for the Cause 2020 initiative that is no different. While previously the team had been planning on collecting donations from students, staff and faculty on the University of Houston campus, that is now no longer an option. As many of the students have gone home for the rest of the semester while classes are moved online, there is now not only fewer people on campus altogether, but also a shortage of resources from these people that can be spared. That being said, if you or someone you know is still able and interested in donating to the Cougar Paws for the Cause 2020 initiative there are a few ways that you are able to help out while actively practicing your social distancing.

1. Leave a comment on the Animeals on Wheels social media expressing your support for them during this trying time. When you leave a comment on a post, this helps boost the post and helps others to see this organization that is near and dear to our hearts. If you do not have the means of contributing monetarily during this time for whatever reason, this is a really great option. Helping to get others to see these posts gives Animeals on Wheels more eyes on their mission: to help seniors feed their pets. More eyes on the mission means that there is a higher likelihood of someone seeing the post who is able to send some money to their cause.

2. Go to the Animeals on Wheels homepage and search for the donate button. When you go to the donate button on the website, you’ll be able to customize your donation. Some of the customization will be the amount of the donation and the frequency of the donation. Frequency of donation means if you would like it to be a one-time donation or a recurring donation. Every dollar matters and anything you are able to give is incredibly helpful in supporting this important organization that helps seniors and their pets in your area.

3. Do you have a Facebook profile? If you do, this is an awesome option for you to be able to help out Animeals on Wheels! You can support Animeals on Wheels by selecting them as your Support Nonprofit option when you create a status update. If you have never done this before, follow the simple sets that are lined out below:

• First, go to Facebook and click the text box in the Create Post section of your homepage.
• Next, click on the three small dots on the far right side of the box.
• Click Support Nonprofit from the selection of options.
• After you click Support Nonprofit, you will see a space where you can fill in what nonprofit you would like to support. Fill in Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston. This organization is the main branch of Animeals on Wheels.
• Continue crafting your post by asking your friends and family to donate now!
